REACH is the new EU regulation governing the “Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemicals”. It came into force on June 1st 2007 and replaces no less than 40 existing European regulations. REACH will regulate the production, import, storage, and application of more than 30,000 chemicals across the entire European Union, and will increasingly affect other parts of the world. The introduction of REACH has major impact on the entire chemical industry as chemicals made in or imported into the EU in annual volumes of 1 ton or more must be registered at European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
While the industry has the question of whether to adopt REACH at an early stage as it has an implementation calendar spanning nearly 12 years, the decision for Verdcol is clear, timely implementation is the only action to take.
